Our language program is furthered with the introduction of Phonics to the whole language curriculum. Teachers teach phonics using a combination of the Alpha Time program and the Moncure letter people. Through games, songs, and hands-on activities, children learn the sounds of letters and words. The three-year-old class will begin to take part in mini-field trips such as the pumpkin patch, the farmers market, and more. The love of reading is introduced by visiting the public library's bookmobile. The math curriculum is furthered with the introduction to more complex patterning, sequencing, and simple addition and subtraction. Learning about habitats and life cycles are just two of the themes that make up our science curriculum.

Our Pre-K classroom consists of 4 and 5 year olds, preparing for kindergarten. This unique program gives your child the best chance of succeeding in their first year in elementary school. Our rotational schedule was based on the environment of the public school classroom. Our curriculum is modeled after the Kindergarten core learning areas which include Math, Science, language, and art. The class divides into small groups that rotate between teachers who specialize in each area. This allows the children an excellent opportunity to prepare for what the kindergarten environment is like. The art portion of our curriculum acts as an outlet for personal expression. Children are exposed to the works of such artists as Picasso, Van Gogh, and Monet along with art mediums of clay, metal, paper-mâché, and oil paints. Parents view the many months of work at their annual Arts Show. The anticipation of this event creates much excitement throughout the entire school as well as with parents waiting to view their child's works of art. This event has caused recognition in the local paper for fostering the importance of art education in young children. This is one of many events scheduled throughout the school year.
